There are a lot of negative comments made about Pembroke Regional Hospital but, allow me to shed light where it need be shed on a high intensity situation we found ourselves in on Monday, April 27, 2026. Our 16 month old little boy became very ill, very quickly with no signs or symptoms prior. In a 2 hour window of time his temperature rose over 40° and he experienced a seizure. My husband called 911 and it was immediate response with a first response medical team arriving first while the ambulance rushed to our home. They helped assess and he was given Tylenol again. I was 10 minutes from the end of my work day and got the call about my baby having 911 called for him. I was not well ... instantly terrified and distraught. The first responder spoke to me on the phone to help me breathe to drive to go get our 5 year old from his before/after school program and make it back to the hospital to wait for the ambulance. The paramedics arrived and they did full assessment, stabilized him, prepared him for transport and rushed to the ER. The Paramedic (Ally) spoke to me on the phone to let me know he was okay and they were coming. Fast forward to what felt like forever as a mother holding her 5 year old waiting on an ambulance ... it arrived, they rushed him in and everyone immediately sprang into action. Nurses introducing themselves whilst doing vitals and working at what they do best, the paramedic letting me know he was stable and everything was going to be okay, the emergency physician coming over and beginning hands on care, test ordering and calling CHEO. There was an x-ray performed within an hour with immediate result reading, there was blood testing immediately, placed an IV in and had an EKG performed and monitored as his heart rate was rapid and also had spiking at times of rest. Everything was immediate, fast, full hands on care and attention to my 16 month old (to be expected with such a tiny little person) Everyone was attentive to us, offering food, drinks, comfort ... and our 5 year old was so scared and distraught seeing everything they also provided care and support for him. He had drinks, a popsicle, lots of stickers and went for little walks. My husband at that time as it was getting late, went home with our oldest and I remained in hospital with our precious little one. They began to administer heavy antibiotics and diagnosed a Febrile Seizure which is very common in young children who have high fever, sudden or gradual. They worked with CHEO throughout the evening to assess results, have discussion on next steps, etc. When I say that Pembroke Regional Emergency Staff .... took care of my son, myself .... our family .... it is a very true statement. It was an extremely high stress situation and terrifying to witness as a mother. Do I remember all their names - no, no I do not. But I hope you see this ... if you were working that evening. You are all incredible and made for what you do to help people. We are forever grateful and appreciative of all measures taken to ensure my little boy got to come home.

I was planning a homebirth, but I decided I wanted to transfer to hospital. I was treated with kindness and respect and felt welcomed and safe (which was not my previous experience in hospitals). The staff was great, they listened to me and allowed me to birth the way I wanted. Dr. Nimbe was kind and although I disagreed with him a few times, he ended up really helping me out In the end and I think he did a great job!! They allowed me to have supportive people in the room with me and treated me well. Thank-you to the labour and delivery unit, you guys rock

I had a bilateral knee replacement with Dr. De Jesus and everything went very well. Dr. de Jesus explained everything in detail. Excellent bedside manner. From my first visit to preop, physio all staff were fantastic. I stayed in three nights and received excellent care. Shout out in particular to Nurses Kate, Erin, Stephanie and Allison. All the support staff as well. Very happy with my surgery and care.
